Forza Horizon 6 Auction House Guide: Trading & Flipping for Profit
Master the Auction House in Forza Horizon 6. How to buy low, sell high, snipe rare cars, flip Festival Playlist rewards, and build wealth through trading.
Why the Auction House Exists
The Autoshow sells every purchasable car at a fixed price. The Auction House is where players sell to each other at whatever price the market decides. This creates opportunities: rare cars that cost nothing in the Autoshow can sell for millions in the Auction House, and expensive Autoshow cars can sometimes be found cheap when someone dumps a Wheelspin duplicate.
Understanding the Auction House is the difference between scraping together credits for your next car and sitting on 50 million with nothing to spend it on.
The Basics
Buying
Search by manufacturer, model, or performance class. Set maximum buyout price to filter results. You can either bid (cheapest but takes time) or buy out instantly (pay the listed buyout price immediately).
Bidding works for patience plays. Auctions with no competing bids end at their starting price, which can be a fraction of the buyout. But you have to wait for the timer to expire, and someone can outbid you at the last second.
Buyout is for sniping. When a car is listed below market value, someone else will grab it within minutes. Hit buyout before they do.
Selling
List any car from your garage with a starting bid and buyout price. The game sets minimum and maximum price ranges based on the car’s rarity and demand. Popular cars have higher maximum ceilings.
Listings last 24 hours. If the car doesn’t sell, it returns to your garage with a small listing fee deducted. Relist at a lower price or wait for demand to change.
The Flip Strategy
Festival Playlist Flipping
Every week, the Festival Playlist offers exclusive cars as rewards. During the active event, many players earn and immediately sell these cars. Supply is high, prices are low.
The strategy:
- During the active event week, buy the reward car at minimum buyout
- Wait 2-4 weeks until the event ends and supply dries up
- Relist at 3-5x your purchase price
- Repeat every week with new seasonal rewards
The best flips come from cars that are genuinely desirable (high performance, popular brand) and from Playlist events that are difficult to complete (fewer players earn the reward = lower supply later).
Car Pass Flipping
When new Car Pass cars release each week, pass owners who don’t want a specific car dump it on the Auction House immediately. Day-one prices are often the lowest the car will ever be.
Buy Car Pass cars on release day. Wait 2-3 months. After the initial dump, supply drops because no new copies enter the market (Car Pass cars aren’t in the Autoshow). Prices climb steadily.
Wheelspin Rare Cars
Some cars are Wheelspin-exclusive — they can’t be bought from the Autoshow at all. When you get one from a Wheelspin, check the Auction House before driving it. If it’s selling for 5+ million credits, consider selling and buying a different car you actually want.
The Nissan GT-R Black Edition Forza Edition is the most valuable Wheelspin-exclusive. It regularly sells for maximum buyout.
Sniping — The Fast Lane
Sniping is buying underpriced cars before anyone else does. It requires speed and market knowledge.
How to Snipe
- Search for a specific car you know is underpriced
- Sort by “Ending Soonest”
- Look for buyout prices significantly below average
- Hit “Buy Out” instantly — don’t think, don’t hesitate
- If it says “Auction has been updated” or “This auction has ended,” someone beat you
What to Snipe
- Forza Edition cars listed at minimum prices by players who don’t know their value
- Festival Playlist exclusives that past owners dump carelessly
- Newly released cars where the first few sellers underprice the market
- Cars with expensive perks — some cars have Car Mastery trees that pay 200,000+ CR. If the buyout is less than the perk payout, it’s free money
Sniping Is Competitive
On popular cars, you’re competing with hundreds of other players doing the same thing. Your success rate will be low — maybe 1 in 10 attempts lands. Don’t get frustrated. It’s a numbers game. Check back frequently, especially during off-peak hours (early morning, weekday afternoons) when fewer buyers are active.
Pricing Your Listings
Too High
Your car sits for 24 hours and doesn’t sell. You’ve lost the listing fee and the opportunity cost of those credits being locked in the car.
Too Low
It sells instantly, and you left money on the table. Someone else bought your car to flip it at the price you should have listed.
The Sweet Spot
Check what comparable cars are currently listed for. Price yours 5-10% below the lowest competing buyout. Your car sells quickly, and you’re not leaving significant money behind.
For rare cars with no competing listings, start at a moderate price. If it sells instantly, you underpriced. If it sits, lower it next time.
Market Timing
Prices Drop When:
- A Festival Playlist event awards the car (supply spike)
- A new Car Pass car releases on Thursday (attention shifts)
- A new game update drops (everyone’s playing content, not trading)
Prices Rise When:
- A seasonal event ends and the reward car leaves rotation
- A popular YouTube video features the car (demand spike)
- A balance patch makes a car meta for online racing
Track these patterns over weeks. Players who understand timing consistently earn more than players who just list at whatever price the game suggests.
The 10 Million Credit Garage Strategy
For players who want to build wealth efficiently:
- Week 1-2: Earn credits through racing and assists. Buy houses for passive bonuses.
- Week 3-4: Start buying Festival Playlist rewards on their active weeks (cheap).
- Week 5-8: Sell Week 3-4 purchases at inflated prices. Reinvest.
- Ongoing: Reinvest profits into more flips. Your buying power grows exponentially.
The key insight: every credit earned from racing is capped by time played. Credits earned from Auction House flips scale with capital. The more credits you invest in underpriced cars, the more you earn when you sell — without playing a single race.
