Monster Hunter Wilds All Title Updates Guide: TU1 Through TU4 and Beyond

Complete summary of every Monster Hunter Wilds title update from TU1 to TU4 and the post-TU4 patch. New monsters, Arch-Tempered fights, features, and what's coming next.

Why Title Updates Matter

Monster Hunter Wilds launched with a strong roster and a complete story, but like every modern Monster Hunter game, the real longevity comes from post-launch content. Capcom has delivered four major Title Updates since launch plus a post-TU4 patch, each one adding monsters, quests, and systems that reshape the endgame.

If you’re a returning player who dropped off after the credits, this guide covers what you missed and what’s worth coming back for. If you’ve been playing the whole time, use this as a reference for what each update actually added — it’s easy to lose track when the updates stack up.

Title Update 1 — April 4, 2025

The “Real Endgame Starts” Update

TU1 is where Wilds shifted from a story-driven action game to a Monster Hunter endgame grind. Three major additions changed how you spend your time at HR 16+.

Mizutsune

The bubble-blowing Leviathan from Generations made its Wilds debut. Mizutsune fights with a mix of water beams and bubble attacks that inflict Bubbleblight (reduced traction, uncontrolled sliding). It’s a gorgeous fight — the bubble effects in the new engine look incredible — and the moveset is well-adapted to Wilds’ Focus Mode system. Wound targets appear on the fins and tail, and breaking the head crest reduces the frequency of its wide-area bubble attacks.

Mizutsune armor has skills focused on evasion and water attack, making it a natural fit for Dual Blades, Long Sword, and Switch Axe players who want to lean into counter-based playstyles.

High Rank Zoh Shia

The Construct boss from Chapter 3 got a High Rank version with significantly more health, new combo chains, and nastier Crystal Blight. This gave endgame players a reason to revisit the Construct storyline with real gear, and the HR Zoh Shia materials unlock the Construct armor set at its full potential.

For the detailed fight breakdown, check our Zoh Shia guide.

Grand Hub

The central multiplayer hub unlocked at HR 16+. Before TU1, multiplayer was handled through smaller regional hubs, which split the player base. The Grand Hub consolidated everything — all quest boards, facilities, and social spaces in one location. It also added the event quest board where AT hunts are posted.

AT Rey Dau

The first Arch-Tempered monster in Wilds. AT Rey Dau set the template for what AT fights would be: faster attacks, new moves, tighter punish windows, and an exclusive armor set. It required HR 50 and R8 weapons to be competitive.

See our Arch-Tempered guide for the full strategy.

Title Update 2 — June 30, 2025

The “Two Returning Legends” Update

TU2 brought back two of the most requested monsters from the classic era, plus a major crafting system addition.

Lagiacrus

The flagship of Monster Hunter 3 finally made it into a fifth-gen game. Lagiacrus fights on land and in water (Wilds added limited underwater zones in the Scarlet Forest and Iceshard Cliffs specifically for this monster). Its electric attacks are devastating in water, where conductivity makes the hit zones larger. On land, it’s a more traditional fight with charges, tail sweeps, and electric discharge attacks.

The Lagiacrus weapon tree has some of the best Thunder weapons in the game, competing with Artian Thunder options for best-in-slot depending on your weapon type. The armor provides Thunder Attack and a new skill called Tidal Surge that boosts damage after dodging through attacks.

Seregios

The “Thousand Blade Wyvern” returned with its signature Bleed-inflicting scale shots. Seregios fires razor-sharp scales that stick into your body and cause Bleeding — a status that drains your HP when you move or attack. The cure is crouching still for a few seconds or eating a Well-Done Steak (or Sushifish Scale). This creates a unique tension where your instinct to dodge and attack works against the healing.

Seregios weapons have the Auto-Sharpen mechanic — rolling sharpens the weapon slightly, rewarding aggressive dodge-heavy play. Very popular with Sword and Shield, Long Sword, and Dual Blades mains.

AT Uth Duna

The second AT fight, requiring HR 50. AT Uth Duna’s ice armor regeneration mechanic was divisive — some hunters loved the added complexity, others found it tedious. Regardless, the AT Uth Duna armor with Frost Fortification became a staple in defensive builds.

Layered Weapons

TU2 introduced the ability to change your weapon’s appearance independent of its stats. You could now make your Artian R8 weapon look like any weapon you’d previously crafted. This was a massive cosmetic feature that the community had been requesting since launch. The system is straightforward: forge the weapon once, unlock its appearance permanently, apply it at the smithy.

Title Update 3 — September 29, 2025

The “Crossover and Endgame Expansion” Update

TU3 was the biggest content drop since launch, combining a major crossover event with significant endgame additions.

FFXIV Crossover — Omega Planetes

The collaboration with Final Fantasy XIV brought Omega Planetes as a unique boss fight. This is a mechanical construct (different from the Wyverian Constructs in the main story) inspired by the Omega raid series from FFXIV. The fight has phases that reference FFXIV raid mechanics — arena-wide attacks with safe zones, timed DPS checks, and position-based mechanics that feel more like an MMO encounter than a traditional hunt.

Omega Planetes drops materials for a crossover armor set and weapon series with FFXIV-themed designs. The weapons are cosmetically unique but stat-wise compete with mid-tier Artian options — good for fashion, not best-in-slot.

AT Nu Udra

The third AT fight, now requiring HR 100 — a significant jump from the previous AT requirements. AT Nu Udra’s Web Labyrinth mechanic and Deadly Poison escalation made it the hardest AT fight at the time of release. The Venom Weaver armor skill from its set remains niche but powerful for dedicated Poison builds.

New 9-Star Tempered Quests

TU3 expanded the 9-star Tempered roster with three additions:

  • Tempered Ajarakan — the cavern-dwelling beast from Oilwell Basin, now at endgame tuning
  • Tempered Xu Wu — the Cephalopod from Oilwell Basin, now with endgame-level damage on its tentacle sweeps and ink clouds
  • Tempered Blangonga — the ice ape from Iceshard Cliffs, already aggressive in its normal form, now terrifying

These additions gave endgame hunters more variety in the farming rotation and new sources of specific Artian materials that were previously bottlenecked.

Title Update 4 — December 16, 2025

The “Elder Dragon” Update

TU4 was the update that added the type of fight Monster Hunter is famous for: an Elder Dragon siege.

Gogmazios

The only Elder Dragon in Monster Hunter Wilds. An 8-hunter siege (4 players + 4 NPC Support Hunters) with state-based combat, siege weapons, and a final-phase DPS check. This single addition gave Wilds an endgame anchor that kept the community engaged for months.

Gogmazios requires HR 100+ and demands genuine coordination or mastery. The Elderbreaker cannon, Anti-Wyvern Guns, and Dragonator are siege tools that deal damage no weapon can match, making the fight feel distinct from every other hunt in the game.

For the full strategy breakdown, check our Gogmazios guide.

AT Jin Dahaad

The fourth AT fight, also at HR 100. AT Jin Dahaad is a stamina test — the monster has the largest health pool of any AT, and the fight runs 30-40 minutes even with optimal play. The Earthen Might skill from its armor became a cornerstone of melee DPS builds.

Post-TU4 Update — February 17, 2026

The “Final Challenge” Patch

Not a full Title Update, but a significant content patch that added the capstone challenge.

AT Arkveld

The final Arch-Tempered monster. AT Arkveld is the hardest fight in Monster Hunter Wilds — faster than any other AT, with the double dive bomb, enraged shockwave, and near-permanent rage state. It requires HR 100+ and the best gear you can assemble.

The Wraith’s Embrace armor skill from AT Arkveld scales damage with wound breaks, rewarding aggressive Focus Mode play. It’s the final armor set most hunters will chase, and clearing AT Arkveld is the closest thing Wilds has to a “completion” milestone.

What’s Coming Next

As of May 2026, here’s what we know about the future of Monster Hunter Wilds:

Large Expansion Confirmed

Capcom has confirmed a large-scale expansion in the vein of Iceborne (Monster Hunter World’s massive DLC). The official announcement is expected summer 2026, with a likely release window of February-March 2027. No content details have been leaked, but based on the Iceborne precedent, expect:

  • A new difficulty rank (Master Rank equivalent)
  • Multiple new regions
  • 15-25 additional monsters
  • New weapon mechanics or movesets
  • Extended story content

What This Means for Current Players

If you haven’t reached HR 100 yet, now is the time. Expansions historically don’t invalidate endgame gear from the base game immediately — Iceborne let you use your best High Rank sets for the first few Master Rank hunts before requiring upgrades. Having R8 Artian weapons and AT armor sets will give you a head start.

If you’ve completed everything, keep your eye on the summer announcement. The community expects a reveal at a major gaming event (likely Tokyo Game Show or a dedicated Capcom showcase).

Returning Player Priority List

If you’re jumping back in after a long break, here’s what to tackle in order:

  1. Finish the story if you haven’t (through Chapter 6 for credits, Chapter 3 for first credits)
  2. Reach HR 16 and unlock the Grand Hub
  3. Farm Tempered monsters for Artian R6-R7 weapons
  4. Hit HR 50 and attempt AT Rey Dau and AT Uth Duna for armor sets
  5. Reach HR 100 — this unlocks 9-star Tempered, Gogmazios, and the remaining AT fights
  6. Clear Gogmazios at least once for the experience and Elder Dragon materials
  7. Farm 9-star Tempered for R8 Artian weapons
  8. Challenge AT Nu Udra, AT Jin Dahaad, and AT Arkveld for endgame armor sets
  9. Optimize your builds with augmented R8 weapons and mixed AT armor sets

That’s the full roadmap. Wilds has gotten a year’s worth of substantial content since launch, and the expansion will add significantly more. Good time to be hunting.
