The Five Crafting Stations
Subnautica 2 has over 300 recipes spread across five crafting stations. Every single one is locked behind a scan, data box pickup, or story trigger. Nothing is available by default — you earn every blueprint through exploration.
This guide covers all confirmed recipes organized by station, plus the materials you need and how to unlock each one.

Blueprint Unlock Methods
There are three ways to unlock blueprints:
1. Fragment Scanning (Most Common)
Find degraded equipment, broken tools, and wreckage fragments. Scan them with the Scanner. Most items need 2-3 fragment scans before the recipe fully unlocks. Extra scans beyond the requirement give you bonus materials — free resources just for thorough scanning.
2. Material Discovery (Auto-Unlock)
Picking up certain materials for the first time auto-unlocks related recipes:
- Pent → unlocks Biofuel Block
- Medical Gel Sac → unlocks Fiber Mesh
- Other biological materials trigger their respective base recipes
3. Story Triggers
Some blueprints unlock through story progression — interacting with alien terminals, reaching specific locations, or completing objectives.
Crafting Priority Order
If you’re wondering what to build first, follow this sequence:
- Basic Battery → Scanner → Flashlight (first 15 minutes)
- Repair Tool → Habitat Builder (first hour)
- Fins → Standard Air Tank (before serious exploration)
- Sonic Resonator (for Bloom clearance and Gold mining)
- Wiring Kit → Power Cell (vehicle prerequisites)
- Tadpole (first vehicle — opens deep exploration)
- Bioscanner (DNA collection and biomod unlocks)
- Metal Farm (renewable resources — endgame quality of life)
Build each item the moment you have the materials. Sitting on resources doesn’t help. Sitting in a Tadpole 300 meters down does.
