Subnautica 2 All Resources Guide: Where to Find Every Material

Complete resource guide for Subnautica 2. Locations, biomes, and crafting uses for every material including Titanium, Copper, Silver, Gold, Lithium, and rare materials.

Every Resource on Planet Zezura

Subnautica 2 has over 20 harvestable resources spread across multiple biomes at varying depths. Some you’ll trip over walking out of the Lifepod. Others require specific tools, upgrades, and a willingness to swim into volcanic caves.

This guide covers every confirmed resource, where to find it, and what you’ll craft with it.

Tier 1: Starting Resources (No Special Tools Needed)

Titanium

Where: Everywhere. Rock-like structures scattered across the ocean floor near the surface. Also processed from Metal Salvage found near wreckage. How to get: Pick up by hand from seafloor nodes. Break Metal Salvage at the Fabricator for Salvaged Titanium. Key uses: Base building (walls, corridors, rooms), tools (Scanner, Flashlight, Repair Tool), Titanium Ingots (3 Titanium each)

Titanium is the bread and butter of survival. You’ll never stop needing it. If you see it, pick it up.

Copper

Where: Cave walls and ceilings. The cave directly under the Lifepod is your first source. Also found in caves 30 meters east at the Coral Dome and 130 meters east past the strong current cave. How to get: Break brownish-orange mineral chunks from cave surfaces. Look UP — copper sits on walls and ceilings, not floors. Key uses: Basic Battery (2 Copper + 1 Acidic Raion Pouch), Copper Wire, Copper Ingot (3 Copper), electronics, navigation tools

Copper is the bottleneck of early game. Everything electrical needs copper, and you burn through it fast building batteries. See our dedicated Copper farming guide for the best spots.

Quartz

Where: Inside large orange coral formations on the ocean floor. Glows faintly at night. How to get: Break coral formations by hand. Key uses: Glass (2 Quartz at the Processor), Scanner, Solar Panel, windows for your base

Acidic Raion Pouch

Where: Purple and green brain-shaped Raion plants in caves. Closest is 30 meters east of the Lifepod. More under the Welcome Centre, 70 meters southeast. How to get: Slash Acidic Raion plants with the Survival Multitool. Key uses: Basic Battery, Mild Acid. Your most consumed biological resource in early game.

Fibrous Pulp

Where: Slash any of these plants with the Multitool: Whip Gorgon, Feather Kelp, Curtain Gorgon, Cradle Shortroot. All found in Starting Shallows. Key uses: Fiber Mesh, Biofuel Block, water recipes, food prep

Lucifer Rotsac

Where: Glowing orange pentagons on the ocean floor. Best early spot: 80 meters southwest of the Lifepod, around a rocky archway (about 16 spawn there). Respawns periodically. How to get: Pick up by hand. Key uses: Rubber (2 Lucifer Rotsac), Grease. The only source of Rubber in the game.

Coral Chippings

Where: Dragon’s Scale Coral and other coral types on rocky walls in Starting Shallows. How to get: Slash coral with Survival Multitool. Key uses: Coral Jars, Coral Mash

Medical Gel Sac

Where: Harvest from Acidic Raion plants (the same ones that drop pouches). Key uses: First Aid Kits. Your primary healing resource.

Tier 2: Mid-Game Resources (Some Exploration Required)

Silver

Where: Deep caves, clustered together. Primary spots:

  • Cave roughly 400-500 meters north of the Lifepod, past the Coral Dome. Look for cave entrances with Dangling Salps and green glowing flora.
  • Caves near Camp One, about 240 meters north-northeast. Entrance below the cliffs northeast of the northernmost building.
  • Outskirts of the geothermal vents biome, east of Lifepod. How to get: Break from cave walls by hand. If you find one piece, many more are nearby — silver clusters. Key uses: Wiring Kit (1 Silver + 1 Copper Wire), Standard Air Tank, Silver Ingot (3 Silver)

Salt

Where: About 500 meters southeast of the Lifepod. Also in eastern zones. How to get: Pick up from deposits on the seafloor. Key uses: Power Cell recipes, preserved food, Glass recipes

Lead

Where: Deeper bare canyons, concentrated near the Cicada Wreck area. How to get: Break from rock surfaces. Key uses: Sonic Resonator (1 Basic Battery + 2 Titanium Ingot + 2 Lead + 1 Wiring Kit), radiation shielding

Necrolei Cyst

Where: Necrolei Forest biome. Slash Stilt Orb plants (tall purple stalks). Key uses: Strong Acid (2 Necrolei Cysts at the Processor). Alternative recipe: 1 Sulfur + 1 Gold.

Pent

Where: Camp One area, 276 meters north-northeast of the Lifepod. Yellow mushroom clusters. How to get: Pick up by hand. Auto-unlocks Biofuel Block recipe. Key uses: Sulfur, Biofuel Block

Tier 3: Advanced Resources (Tools & Upgrades Required)

Gold

Where: Volcanic lava areas with extreme heat, approximately 250 meters south-southeast of the Lifepod (compass heading 120). Concentrated near large blackened coral formations called Radiator Corals. Requirements: Heat Tolerance Adaptation — obtained by cleansing the Bloom infestation from the Angel Comb using the Sonic Resonator. How to get: Small deposits can be picked up or broken by hand. Larger deposits require the Sonic Resonator. A single run with the Sonic Resonator can yield 40+ gold. Key uses: Advanced Wiring Kit, Thermal Plant, Strong Acid (1 Sulfur + 1 Gold), Gold Ingot (3 Gold)

Sulfur

Where: Found alongside Gold in hot volcanic zones. Key uses: Strong Acid, Repair Tool components, Advanced Wiring Kit

Lithium

Where: Two main locations:

  • Deep caves under large coral arches, approximately 500 meters east of the Lifepod
  • Inside/around the Great Jaw, roughly 300 meters south-southwest. Look for purple glowing crystals on the side walls. How to get: Break dark crystalline deposits from walls. Key uses: Plasteel Ingot (Lithium + Titanium Ingot), depth modules, advanced base structures

Conduit Crystal

Where: Near far-east alien power plants and observatories. Part of the alien structure biome. Key uses: Bioscanner upgrade (3 Conduit Crystals), advanced batteries

Atacamite

Where: Seabed around far-east alien structures. Obsidian-black deposits. Key uses: Mangalloy Ingot (1 Titanium Ingot + 1 Atacamite + 1 Troilite)

Celestine

Where: Near alien power plants and observatories. Key uses: Refines to Strontium at the Processor.

Tier 4: Rare & Late-Game Resources

Troilite

Where: Karakorum Metal Farms, roughly 700 meters east-southeast of the Alien Base in the far northeast of the map. Requirements: Tadpole with Depth Module Mk. 1 (450-meter depth capacity). You’ll need to exit the vehicle and swim the final stretch. How to get: Use the Sonic Resonator on Mineralized Clinkers. This appears to be a finite resource — spend it wisely. Key uses: Mangalloy Ingot, Tadpole Depth Module Mk. 2, late-game upgrades

Metal Salvage

Where: Near wreckage from the CICADA starship and scattered debris fields. How to get: Pick up by hand. Key uses: Processes into Salvaged Titanium at the Fabricator. Good supplementary titanium source.

Metal Farms: Renewable Resources at Your Base

Once you reach mid-to-late game, you can build Metal Farms at your base for renewable resource production.

Metal Farm Recipe (Habitat Builder, Cultivation tab):

  • 1 Mangalloy Alloy
  • 1 Axum Bacterial Culture

How they work: Place a Metal Farm in your base, insert an ore type (Titanium, Quartz, Lithium, Silver, Atacamite, Celestine, and others), and wait. The farm accumulates minerals from the surrounding environment. When a node protrudes from the farm, blast it with a Sonic Resonator or Feedback Resonator to harvest.

Each Metal Farm consumes 20 energy, so build Hydroelectric Turbines or Solar Panels to support them. Once running, you’ll never need to manually mine common resources again.

Resource Respawning

Resources respawn in Subnautica 2. Any cave or location you’ve mined will eventually refill its nodes. Mark productive locations with Beacons and return regularly. The respawn timer isn’t instant — plan multiple mining routes and rotate between them.
