WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers Chapter 5 Walkthrough — Bo Capital and All 4 Endings

Complete walkthrough for Chapter 5 of WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers, covering every area of Bo Capital, secret bosses, the third riddle door, and how to unlock all four endings.

The Final Chapter

Chapter 5 is where everything comes together—the NPC questlines, the riddle doors, the branching story paths. Bo Capital is the largest area in the game, and it’s packed with secrets that are easy to miss on a blind playthrough. Two bosses are entirely hidden behind quest requirements. One riddle door holds the best upgrade material in the game. And all four endings branch from decisions you make here.

I’ll walk through every area in order, flag the missable content, and explain exactly how to reach each ending.

Capital Entrance

The Capital Entrance is a long corridor section that funnels you into Bo Capital proper. Enemy density is moderate, but the enemies themselves are the strongest standard mobs in the game. Demon soldiers with heavy armor and fast attack chains. Don’t underestimate them just because they’re not bosses.

There’s a shrine about halfway through the corridor. Use it. The stretch after it has two ambush triggers—one from above, one from a side alcove. If you push through without resting, you’ll hit both ambushes with half your healing gone.

Loot note: A chest on the right side of the corridor, behind some breakable rubble, contains a late-game Echo spell. Easy to miss because the rubble blends into the environment. Smash everything that looks destructible.

Avian Altar

The Avian Altar is a circular arena area with a central altar. This is where you’ll combine the two halves of the Solbird to access The Forbidden Lands later. If you don’t have both halves yet, you’ll need to backtrack—one half drops from a Chapter 3 optional boss, and the other is found in the Chapter 4 ruined zones.

MISSABLE: You must place both Solbird halves on the altar BEFORE entering the Gate of Truth. After the final boss sequence starts, you can’t come back here. If you want access to The Forbidden Lands and everything inside it, do this first.

The altar area also has a merchant who sells the final tier of consumables. Stock up on everything. Healing items, Corruption cures, buff items. The remaining bosses hit hard enough that you’ll burn through supplies.

Depths of the Capital

This is the largest sub-area in the game. Multiple vertical layers, branching paths, and enemy gauntlets that test your build and resources. Take it slow. There’s a shrine on each layer, so you’re never far from a checkpoint, but the gauntlets between shrines are long.

Third Riddle Door

The third and final riddle door is here, in the Depths of the Capital. If you solved the first two before they disappeared in Chapter 4, you already know how these work. This one has a more cryptic prompt than the previous two.

The correct answer is: “The Grand Dream Fades.”

Getting it right opens the door to two rewards:

  1. Lustrous Red Feather — This is the maximum weapon upgrade material, allowing you to push a weapon to +10. There is no other reliable source for this in the game. If you want a fully upgraded weapon for the final boss, you need this.
  2. Final Boatman meeting — The Boatman NPC appears for the last time behind this door. His dialogue wraps up one of the game’s background storylines and provides lore context for the endings.

What happens if you answer wrong: You get a different, lesser reward and the door closes permanently. You can’t retry. If you care about the Lustrous Red Feather (and you should), get the answer right the first time.

Shrine Dwelling

A smaller connecting area between the Depths and the Featherfall Marsh. One shrine, moderate enemy count. There’s a shortcut back to the Avian Altar here—a one-way drop that opens a previously locked door. Use it if you need to visit the merchant or if you forgot to place the Solbird halves.

Featherfall Marsh

The Marsh is a poisonous swamp area. Standing in the water applies a stacking debuff that slows your movement and reduces stamina regeneration. Stick to the raised paths whenever possible. When you have to cross water, sprint through—don’t stop to fight in it.

Enemy types here are amphibious demons with lunging attacks. They’re fast in water, slow on land. Bait them onto dry ground before engaging. Fighting them in the swamp while debuffed is a recipe for getting chain-stunned into a death.

Hidden item: There’s a submerged chest in the deepest part of the marsh, near a collapsed pillar. It contains a unique armor piece with high Corruption resistance. Worth the debuff to grab it, since Corruption damage is heavy in the final areas.

Secret Boss: Zhao Yun — Eternal Glory (Capital Entrance)

Zhao Yun appears at the start of Bo Capital, near the Capital Entrance, if you’ve completed the White-Robed Elder’s questline in full. If you missed any step of that questline in earlier chapters, this boss simply isn’t here. No marker, no hint, just an empty arena.

The fight: Zhao Yun is a spear-wielding warrior with long reach and fast thrusts. He punishes you for being predictable—if you dodge the same direction twice, his third attack tracks to where you’re rolling. Mix up your dodge directions. His combos are five to seven hits long, but there’s a brief pause between the third and fourth hit where you can squeeze in a counterattack.

Phase 2: He buffs his spear with golden energy, extending his reach even further and adding AoE shockwaves to his thrust attacks. Stay at medium range and only commit to attacks during his combo recovery. Don’t get greedy. One hit during his buffed phase takes about a third of your health.

Reward: A unique spear weapon and an Echo spell. Both are strong, but the Echo is the real prize—it’s one of the highest-damage spells in the game.

The Forbidden Lands

You can only reach The Forbidden Lands if you combined both Solbird halves at the Avian Altar. This is an entirely optional zone that ties into the “Dream’s Sweet Deceit” ending.

The area is open and atmospheric—less combat-dense than the rest of Bo Capital, more exploration-focused. There are lore items scattered everywhere that fill in the backstory of the Bo dynasty and the Feathering plague.

Secret Boss: Demon of Obsession

The Demon of Obsession requires completing both the He Youzai and Fang Yao questlines, obtaining the Ring of Samsara, AND giving the wrong answer to the third riddle door in the Depths of Capital. This is the most hidden boss in the game. Most players will never see it on a blind run.

If you meet the requirements, a portal opens in the far corner of The Forbidden Lands. The Demon of Obsession is a large, multi-limbed creature that fills the arena with AoE attacks. It’s a DPS check more than a mechanical fight—you need enough damage output to burn through its health before the arena becomes too saturated with hazards to dodge through.

Strategy: Bring your highest-damage weapon and every offensive buff item you have. Focus on the head—it takes bonus damage. When the AoE hazards start covering the floor, use Ethereal Form to phase through them rather than trying to find safe spots.

Gate of Truth — The Final Boss

Boss: Xuanyangzi — Feathery Ambition (Final Boss)

Xuanyangzi is the final boss of WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers, and the fight is appropriately epic. Three phases, each with distinct mechanics.

Phase 1: Xuanyangzi fights with a sword and feather magic. His sword combos are fast but fair—three to four hits, clear recovery windows. The feather projectiles come in waves between his melee combos. Dodge through the projectiles (they don’t track well at close range) and punish his sword combo recoveries.

Phase 2 (below 60% HP): He ascends and gains flight. Aerial dive attacks, wide feather sweeps across the arena, and a charging beam that tracks you for about two seconds. Sprint perpendicular to the beam, don’t try to dodge-roll through it. When he lands after a dive attack, you have a three-second window to deal damage.

Phase 3 (below 25% HP): He combines melee and magic simultaneously. Sword swings release feather waves, his combos extend to six or seven hits, and the arena periodically fills with feather storms that deal chip damage. This phase is a war of attrition. Keep your healing stocked, stay patient, and only attack during confirmed recovery windows.

Summon tip: If you completed the Storyteller’s questline fully, you can summon him for this fight. I recommend it. The Storyteller draws aggro during Phase 2, which is by far the hardest phase to deal with solo because of the aerial attacks.

All Four Endings Explained

SAVE MANAGEMENT: All four endings are achievable in a single playthrough if you make backup saves before the key decision points. I recommend saving before the Red-Clad Lady decision in Chapter 4 and again before entering the Gate of Truth.

Ending 1: Successor of the Bo

Follow the Red-Clad Lady’s path in Chapter 4 and refuse the Storyteller. This skips late Chapter 4 and all of Chapter 5, ending the game after the Dragon Emperor fight. The shortest ending. You miss most of the game’s content, but it’s a valid narrative conclusion.

Ending 2: Jarful of Medicine

Before entering the Gate of Truth in Chapter 5, give Xuanyangzi the Jade Chisel. This item is found during the He Youzai questline. Handing it over changes the final confrontation—Xuanyangzi’s motivations shift, and the ending reflects a compromise rather than a battle.

Ending 3: Dream’s Sweet Deceit

Complete both the He Youzai and Fang Yao questlines in full, then defeat the final boss normally. The ending cinematic changes to reflect the consequences of those questlines. This is the ending that ties into the Demon of Obsession secret boss.

Ending 4: Bound by Fate’s Threads (TRUE Ending)

Complete the He Youzai and Fang Yao questlines, then choose to venture out with both of them when the option appears before the Gate of Truth. This is the true ending—the longest, most complete conclusion to the story. It requires the most questline work but gives you the full picture of what happened to the Bo dynasty and what Sanshi’s journey means.
